Schloss Hohenschwangau was the childhood residence of King Ludwig II of Bavaria and was built by his father King Maximilian II of Bavaria. It was the family’s official summer residence. It continues to be a favorite of the House of Wittelsbach, currently headed by Franz, Duke of Bavaria.
During my visit in Hohenschwangau, the Duke was said to be present in the castle at that time and so access to the public wasn’t allowed. I did manage to take a couple of shots from the village and more dramatic panoramic views from Schloss Neuschwanstein.
